HOLASHTAK SPECIAL ( March 07, 2025 to 13 March 2025)
Holashtak is being considered eight days before the Holi festival in India. Legend through light on the cause of Holashtak. According to the Sanatan dharma, these are the days when great devotee Prahalad was highly tortured like death punishments by his father Hiranyakashapu.
Another legend also considers the Hindu mythology that Lord Shiva punished Kamdev by devouring the fire of His 3rd eye on this day.
Very few people know the reason why we do not perform holy deeds during these eight days of holashtak in India.
Thus I wish to present the facts concerning the stories on this auspicious occasion of the Holi festival. Otherwise, our present and next generation will forget one of the most important parts of Hindu mythology.

DISCUSSION:
PRAHLAD EPISODE:
Hindu mythology depicts the great devotion of Bhakt Prahalad toward Lord Vishnu while He was a growing child.
Hiranyakasyapu did not like Lord Vishnu at all. He used to say himself, God.
He did try to convince his son Prahalad to give up the spiritual attachment to Vishnu but Prahalad ignored all the times.
Hiranyakasyapu was losing his patience. So He started adopting the cruelest ways to punish Prahalad.
First of all, Prahalad was thrown down from the highest peak of the mountain where Lord Vishnu caught him like a catch of a cricket ball and saved his life.
Prahalad was thrown under the feet of a wild elephant but Lord Vishnu spared him.
Prahalad was also thrown into a boiling oil tank Lord Vishnu salvaged him once again.
WHY HOLY DEEDS ARE PROHIBITED DURING HOLASHTAK:
This cycle of death punishments to Prahalad went on for eight days continuously but Lord Vishnu rescued him. This was the day of Astami of Fagun month( as per the Hindu calendar) when death punishment for Prahalad got started and continued up to eight days.
That is why we call these days 'Holashtak'. All kinds of holy deeds like weddings, opening ceremonies, and many more are not being performed during these days. But we are allowed to worship God these days.
IMPORTANCE OF HOLI FESTIVAL:
At last, Hiranyakashapu decided to kill Prahalad with the help of his sister 'HOLIKA' who was blessed for not burning herself by fire.
Holika did set on fire holding Prahlad in her lap. Holika's boon did not work and she turned into ashes while Bhakta Prahalad insulate safely with the blessing of Lord Vishnu.
THUS WE CELEBRATE HOLI AS THE FESTIVAL OF GOOD OVER EVIL. THROW COLOURS, AND MAKE FUN IN SEVERAL WAYS.
KAMDEV EPISODE:
Legend says Kamdev the God of Sax disturbed Lord Shiva in His Dhyan by applying his 'PUSPA ARROW' on Shiva at 'RUDRA NATH' situated at 3600 meters from the sea level in District Chamoli of Uttarakhand in India up over the great Himalayas.

Luckily I have been there personally and prayed to Lord Shiva with a white lotus during my stay in UTTRAKHAND in 1975. This is a wild tracking that starts onward Mandal in Chamoli District of UTTRAKHAND INDIA.
We pray to Lord Shiva at Gopeshwar Nath temple at Gopeshwar during the winter period while there is snow all around uphill. I, fortunately, used to live just at the front of the temple during my study upto Post Graduation till 1977.

Lord Shiva got angry and opened His 3rd eye and consumed Kamdev on the spot.
This incident also took place on Astami of Fagun month of the Hindu calendar.
When the wife of Kamdev 'Rati' come to know about the death of her husband, she reached the spot and started worshiping Lord Shiva for re alive her husband.
This also took her eight days to please Lord Shiva. Shiva blessed her and promised to give Him birth as the son of Lord Krishna who would be called 'PRADUMNA'.
CONCLUSION:
Hindu mythology is very rich and full of religious episodes and spiritual teachings for the welfare of mankind over this Earth planet.
Modern science also recognizes the power of our epics, and this hidden universe, They are doing a lot of research all over the world. I already have posted two blogs on Bhagwat Gita and the coming incarnation of Lord Bhagwan Gyandev in this regard whose links are given below:

Unfortunately, the modern world has come into the grip of man-made disasters, non-cooperation, and non-ethical societies.
I feel this is necessary because the time has come to know and adopt the teachings of our rich Indian culture, epics. myths and mythology for the overall welfare of mankind over this Earth Planet for prevailing peace and prosperity all around in each country.
Wish you all good luck and a happy Holi,
